About the Business

St Boswells Fuels is a specialist supplier of organic feedstocks to anaerobic digestion (AD) plants across Scotland and northern England. The AD plants they supply convert organic materials into clean biomethane that feeds directly into the national grid.

As demand for renewable energy grows, the business plays a critical role in keeping organic waste in use and ensuring a consistent supply of low-carbon fuel to support national sustainability goals.

The Outcome

“Mapify has provided us with a process and a platform to monitor deliveries, delivery times, and to ensure we get consistency to the AD plants to produce maximum output. Mapify has helped bring other team members in, so we're all on the same page instead of having a group of spreadsheets that could cause issues if data isn't input correctly.”

- Russell Anderson at Procurement Manager at St Boswells Fuels Ltd

The Challenge / Problem

For AD plants, consistency is everything. If feedstock deliveries arrive late, in the wrong order, or are unexpectedly cancelled, gas output can dip almost immediately.

Before Mapify, St Boswells Fuels managed their deliveries through spreadsheets, emails and manual communication. As the business expanded and weekly delivery volumes increased, leading to various challenges, including:

  • Limited visibility of upcoming deliveries, postponed loads and supply gaps across sites

  • Time-consuming weekly planning with no clear, real-time operational overview

  • Miscommunication between internal teams, drivers and feedstock suppliers due to manual processes

  • Reactive “firefighting” when deliveries were cancelled or rescheduled at short notice, risking inconsistent feedstock supply and lower gas output or plant performance

To support reliable renewable energy generation and scale operations sustainably, St Boswells Fuels needed a single, structured system that provided clarity, coordination and control on the move.

Mapify Features They Rely On Most

Mapify gave St Boswells Fuels the clarity and control spreadsheets couldn’t.

Key features they rely on include:

  • Visual delivery planning showing every site, delivery and status in one live view

  • Recurring workflow duplication to build weekly delivery schedules in moments instead of hours

  • Real-time updates that keep drivers, suppliers and internal teams working from the same information

  • Clear visibility across all planned and completed deliveries, reducing missed or conflicting activity

  • A single source of truth that replaces scattered spreadsheets, emails and calls

Together, these features allow the team to plan and respond quickly to changes, ensuring a consistent feedstock supply to AD plants.

By replacing spreadsheets with Mapify, St Boswells Fuels now runs a more resilient, scalable logistics operation - keeping renewable energy production running smoothly.
